A New Chapter for Accessible Boating on the Bridgewater Canal
Wizard II – John B launched onto the Bridgewater canal in May 2026, and it’s bigger, more advanced, and more accessible than the original Wizard. The boat was made possible by a generous legacy donation from a supporter who wanted to fund an accessible boat in memory of her late husband.
Every detail has been designed with accessibility at its core, making it one of the most accessible boat trips Warrington has to offer:
- A fully accessible toilet
- An on-board wheelchair lift
- A fully equipped galley kitchen
- A dedicated wheelchair-accessible helm area, where visitors can take the wheel and drive the boat themselves
The boat was built by Collingwood Boat Builders, and we followed the project from the earliest stages of construction right through to launch day.
