Personal Assistant/Carer Required

Hours of work:
18.5 HOURS PER WEEK, to be worked in three or four sessions.
OR, THIS COULD BE ARRANGED AS A JOB SHARE BETWEEN 2 PERSONAL ASSISTANTS.
The exact working days and hours would be discussed at interview stage, with the prospective employer.
Location:
LYMM AREA OF WARRINGTON, CHESHIRE
Rate of pay: £17.00 PER HOUR (if employed)
£22.00 PER HOUR (if self-employed)
Please note that if the successful applicant is self-employed, they would be required to provide proof of their registration with HMRC and liability insurance to Warrington Borough Council.
Personal Assistant/Carer Required to provide personal and practical assistance, to enable a disabled woman, who is living with chronic illness, to live an independent and social life, in her own home and in the community.
The client has previous work experience as a professional in the creative industries. It would be beneficial for applicants to share interests in the arts.
Current and previous experience of working in health care, with people who are living with chronic health conditions is essential for this role. Applicants must also have a readiness to seek urgent medical advice or assistance in the event of an unfamiliar medical episode or deterioration.
MAIN DUTIES:
Meal Preparation:
· Prepare meals that adhere to the client’s very restricted diet, with a willingness to adapt recipes and ingredients as necessary.
· Ensure proper nutrition and hydration in accordance with the client’s dietary restrictions and medical needs.
Housekeeping:
· Assist in keeping the bedroom and shower environment tidy and clean, including light housekeeping tasks (making bed, organising personal items, maintaining a clutter-free space, and assisting with laundry).
Companionship & Emotional Support:
· Provide companionship and emotional support to the client, engaging in conversations and activities of interest.
· Foster a caring and empathetic atmosphere, and demonstrate patience and respect, ensuring the client feels valued and understood.
Personal Care:
· Assist with washing if required
· Preparing a bath or shower as needed, and occasional support with bathing
· Occasional support with medical supplies, and a willingness to learn about the use of medical devices
· Empty and clean a commode as required
Outings & Transportation:
· Accompany the client on outings, providing assistance and support as needed, including the use of a wheelchair.
· Drive her to medical appointments and other essential errands, ensuring their safety and comfort during travel.
CAR OWNER/DRIVER ESSENTIAL. As the successful applicant would be required to use their own vehicle as part of their employment, they must ensure that their insurance provider covers them for business purposes.

A probationary period will be included for the successful applicant.
The successful applicant would be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
