Female Personal Assistant/Carer – 9 hours per week
I am a friendly 46 year old teacher in need of support around the home. Struggling with chronic health issues, means that day to day living can be challenging. An ideal candidate will have empathy for the impact of hidden disabilities, such high pain levels. Housework/cleaning and help with meal preparation are a big part of this role, as well as assistance in accessing the wider community and attending appointments (wheelchair pushed by PA).
The role;
Applicants must be female. This role is compliant with the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Work: Exceptions, Part 1, Occupational Requirements). This post involves entering the employer’s bedroom when she may be in a state of undress and being present in the home when employer is having medical treatment (physiotherapy), in a semi dressed state. For reasons of dignity, privacy, and safety, this role therefore requires a female worker. This constitutes a Genuine Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
Hours: 9 hours per week (some flexibility maybe possible and additional hours maybe available in the future)
ο Tuesdays: 9am – 12pm
ο Wednesdays: 9am-12pm
* Fridays: 9am-12pm

Location: Penketh, Warrington
Rate of pay: £13.45

Key Responsibilities:
*Performing thorough house cleaning daily, meal preparation, food shopping, running errands and daily tidying.
*Escorting the employer to appointments, outings (e.g. long walks by the canal) and social and medical engagements, using a car and wheelchair (pushed by the assistant). *This may sometimes include taking rabbits to veterinary appointments and any other outings desired by the employer.
*Following instructions and using a duty checklist (usually sent via WhatsApp/text) to ensure tasks are completed well.
*Managing laundry, changing bedding, and maintaining/cleaning the pet area; including care of small animals (rabbits).
· Following surgery and other medical treatment, bringing meals, making hot water bottles, as needed.
Requirements:
*A calm, kind and gentle professional is required.
*Ability to work independently and respect the employer’s need for considerable rest, due to severe pain, illness and mobility issues.
*Strong time management, organisational skills and attention to detail.
*A friendly and respectful working relationship is highly valued.
*A driver with a clean license and access to a car is required, to take employer out into the wider community (a mileage allowance is paid directly by the employer).

My lovely PA of 4 years has now left to pursue a new career and I now need to recruit a reliable replacement. She would say that she has enjoyed her time working for me and we are keeping in touch!
