Jamie is Founder and Managing Director of mission critical logistics business Today Team based in Risley. Growing up in walking distance of Crossfield’s Rugby Club, it was no surprise Jamie fell in love with Rugby League at a young age. He progressed through the junior ranks in to the first team by the age of 17 and in the same season, he was snapped up by Warrington Wolves to play professionally. He made his professional first team debut on Sky Sports at the age of 19 and was a first team regular following a winning, 2 try debut. Knee surgery the following year meant some time out of the sport and after returning at a semi-professional level a third knee operation ended his rugby career early at the age of 24.
Bouncing back from the injury, he decided to then focus his drive and energy on the business world and started Today Team within a month of retiring back in 2005, with a £3000 Princes Trust loan and one rented van. After spending the first 18 months pretty much living in the van to get the business off the ground, the same day delivery company has grown organically from its Warrington base to become a trusted partner of businesses of all sizes throughout the UK. When he’s not working (which isn’t very often) he’s a fan of trying all the new restaurants that appear in Manchester and then cycling to burn off the all the food and wine. Jamie joined the DTC Board in 2015.
