Centre For Independent Living

The Centre for Independent Living is our flagship service and headquarters. The whole site was refurbished in 2010 at a total cost of over £1.4million thanks to a grant from the Community Assets Transfer Fund. There is free parking and full wheelchair access to the building.

We have created realistic environments with a working kitchen area as well as bathing and living areas. Our trained staff offer free and impartial advice about mobility and independent living equipment including useful hints and tips.

Whilst visiting the CIL pop into the Galleries Café for a drink and snack, or a hot meal at very reasonable prices. Staff in the CIL also manage WDP’s accessible caravan, and wheelchair and equipment hire service. Facilities include a large carpark with ten blue badge spaces, a standard wheelchair accessible toilet and a Changing Places toilet which provides an adult changing bed and hoist.
