Warrington Disability Partnership are proud to support this event. We will be there with our Teddy Tombola. Please pop along and say hello!
Entry to this event is FREE
This year’s festival features stands, stalls and displays from across the three Armed Forces, from military vehicles and hands-on equipment to inflatable obstacle courses and airsoft/paintball rifle ranges! There are numerous charities from across the Armed Forces, the Rugby world, local charities, community and interest groups. The event is packed with activities and interests for all the family, from face-painting to Zorbs, a full fairground and even more inflatables.
The festival has become the focus of Warrington’s Armed Forces Day celebrations, with people by the 1000s from all over the North-West and beyond attending and showing their support. In doing so, the event has helped to raise awareness and tens of thousands of pounds for worthy causes. It is a truly fantastic and, crucially in these ever-challenging times, FREE day out for everyone! It’s free to park, free to enter, free to just come along and enjoy some great Rugby League and some great times!
Friday 26th June from 6:00pm
Old guard on display; the return of the Crosfields RLFC Legends vs the Army Rugby League Masters in 80 minutes of open age, full contact rugby league, AND new for ’26 the Royal Marines Rugby League Masters vs the Royal Air Force Masters!
Saturday 27th June
The BIG day! From 10.30am we’re treated to a 3-way Masters Rugby League curtain raiser tournament. The UK Armed Forces Rugby League Masters, Crosfields RLFC Masters and GB Police Masters will go head-to-head in the most social form of rugby and provide a fantastic start to the day!
11.30am the senior rugby starts with a bang (literally as the field guns fire over the pitch!). The ‘Bootnecks’ of the Royal Marines take on the young guns of the Army Rugby League Development XIII. Once again they’ll be playing for the famous ‘Birdsall Bowl. Hard – Fast – Aggressive Rugby League at its best.
Straight after that we see the return of the all-infantry local derby ‘Coleridge Cup’ match between The Mercian Regiment and The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
Then to the main event, Crosfields ARLFC XIII Vs The Army Rugby League 1st XIII vying for the 15th annual ‘Tom Sephton Memorial Trophy’. The Army took the honours last year, but we know that the Crosfields team are smarting and VERY eager to make amends, it’s ALWAYS a ‘robust’ game with every single player giving it their absolute all.
IMPORTANT: There will be a couple of field guns = ‘CANNONS’ attending. These WILL be firing VERY LOUD blank charges throughout the day AND, prior to each of the games, announcements of when they will be firing will be made over the PA system and on various posters around the event.
The day is all about showing support to our servicemen and women and their families, remembering those who have fallen and those who are living with the aftereffects of conflict. It’s an event that brings together all parts of the community, be they young or old, military or civilian, local or rugby communities. It’s simply a great day out and offers everyone the chance to simply ‘put something back’ and get involved… just by being there.
